Smoothwall secures major internet contracts

smoothwall, the Yorkshire-based web security and filtering specialist, is reporting a 40 per cent increase in business after winning major new contracts.

The £5m-turnover company is headquartered in Leeds and has offices in North Carolina and California.

It now sells its technology and products via 600 reseller partners in more than 65 countries.

Smoothwall recently helped one specialist reseller secure a contract with the NHS in Newcastle worth more than £100,000. George Lungley, Smoothwall chief executive, said: “We believe that great British software engineering and Yorkshire grit make a powerful combination and we’re planning further expansion within our business before the end of this year which will take full advantage of the fragile global economic climate.”

Smoothwall employs 100 staff.
