Software company going for growth

EVERY 27 seconds, PureNet helps its clients to secure another sale.

In five years, the York-based firm has grown from a tiny start-up to become an emerging force in the e-commerce sector.

The company plans to hire more staff as it moves from the IT centre, at York Science Park, to bigger premises, at Westminster Place, on the York Business Park.

Dr Paul Gibson, the company’s chief executive, said: “We help our clients to make money online by improving consumers’ shopping experience.

“We are a software house with a design capability. We have been boosted by the fact that the biggest area of growth for retailers has been online.

“Some of our clients are turning over £6m to £12m online.”

The company has secured a number of business wins recently, including the contract to design and build e-commerce systems for West Ham United Football Club and Purple Mountain, a company which offers cycle-hire and mountain biking-services in the Dalby and Kielder Forests.

Mr Gibson added: “By the end of the year, we plan to increase that figure to 28 staff, and by the following year, staff numbers are expected to rise to 35.”

PureNet’s turnover is expected to be £1.2m by the end of this year and £1.8m the following year as it increases its market share.
