Software firm the first to match up

A SOFTWARE technology company is the first firm to be matched with an apprentice via the newly launched Leeds Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA).

Based in North Leeds, Altman Integrated Technologies (AIT), which specialises in print and copy control solutions, has taken on Shaun Clark as an apprentice for the next 18 months. The Leeds ATA, an independent company jointly owned by Leeds City Council and Leeds City College, acts as the broker matching young apprentices with local businesses.

As part of his work with AIT, Mr Clark will be working as a technical consultant providing first line customer support for external and internal users. Mr Clark is undertaking an advanced apprenticeship in network and systems support at Leeds City College whilst working with AIT.

Mr Clark said: “The team at AIT have made me feel really welcome and I’m now looking forward to developing my practical skills. The ATA scheme has allowed me to join a company that will support me in my career in IT. So I’m excited about the future with AIT.”

John Evans, MD of AIT, said: “AIT is delighted to be the first Leeds organisation to work with the ATA and provide an opportunity for a young person who is motivated to start a new career.”

Businesses interested in an apprentice can contact the Leeds ATA on 0113 220 6370 or email [email protected]. Young people looking for an apprenticeship can visit www.apprenticeships.org.uk
