Solicitors to create 20 jobs with opening of two new offices

Wilsons Solicitors is planning to open a further two offices this year, creating 20 jobs.

The firm, which has five offices in the Leeds and Bradford area, was established by John Wilson in 1991, and predominantly works with private clients.

Negotiations are under way for both offices, which will be to the north of its existing ones, which are in Horsforth, Farsley, Idle, Whitkirk and Wibsey.

The two new offices follow the opening of the firm’s Idle office in September last year.

Wilsons Solicitors employs more than 50 people across its office network.

Once Mr Wilson has opened the two new offices, on which the negotiations are at an advanced stage, he will then be looking to identify and open three more.

In the last year, Wilsons Solicitors created 10 jobs. Meanwhile, new clients rose to 6,000 from 3,000 last year.

Turnover has increased from less than £1m two years ago, with the firm on track to achieve approximately £2m turnover this year.

Mr Wilson said: “There hasn’t been much good news within the legal sector recently with firms closing and inevitable mergers taking place, we are therefore proud to have achieved a record 12 months in terms of increases in new business.

“There are going to be a lot of changes within the legal profession and if firms don’t move with the times and rid themselves of the image of being aloof and unapproachable, they will disappear.”

Mr Wilson added: “In addition to introducing a more modern and approachable feel across the offices, we believe one of the key factors in our success has been the introduction of transparent and fixed charging, so that clients know exactly how much they will have to pay before we start working with them.”
