Some Umpf was put into PR profession’s big night

YORKSHIRE’s vibrant public relations industry was celebrated at a major awards ceremony.

Around 250 PR professionals from across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire attended a glittering dinner at The Queens Hotel in Leeds, which was hosted by Gaynor Barnes of ITV Yorkshire.

The awards were dominated by Leeds-based Umpf who took home five gold awards and one silver including the top prize for the Best campaign £10,000 and under category and Best Event as well as being named the region’s Outstanding Small Consultancy.

Leeds-based agency Manifest picked up two of the evening’s biggest awards.

Account director Amy Gregory was named as Outstanding Young Communicator and the team collected the gold award for Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy,

Other winners included Bradford-based supermarket chain Morrisons, who took home the top prizes in the Internal Communications and Best Use of Measurement & Evaluation categories. There were also victories for Finn PR in the Best Use of Social Media, Best Digital campaign and Public Sector categories.

Acceleris triumphed in the Not-For-Profit category for its ‘Celebrations of the Sea’ Campaign, and in the Healthcare category for its involvement with Leeds Teaching Hospital’s Children’s Heart Surgery Fund campaign, while Approach PR took home the Community Relations title for its campaign to save Ilkley carnival.

Yorkshire Water’s Fat Busting Bugs campaign walked away with Best Use of Media Relations trophy. The Switchover Help Scheme took gold in the Integrated Communications category.

The Right Agency carried off the top prize in the External Publication section, while UKAR and Scarlettabbott received the Internal Publication trophy.

Law firm Irwin Mitchell, which has offices in Leeds and Sheffield, received the Outstanding In-House Public Relations team title.
