Specialists back in business with £2.5m venture

TWO Yorkshire laser skin-care entrepreneurs have launched a new £2.5m venture.

John Gill and Paul Jones set up Good Skin Days, in Guiseley, after sitting out three years following the sale of their previous business.

The new firm, which offers cosmetic, non-invasive laser skin care services and is set to be rolled out nationally, is backed by support from Yorkshire Bank's North Yorkshire financial solutions centre (FSC).

The two business men are laser skin-care specialists and previously ran Lasercare Clinics, which re-branded as sk:n in 2005 and was later sold.

Now Good Skin Days has created nine jobs, which Mr Gill and Mr Jones say could be increased, on a site initially acquired by their other joint venture, specialist medical property development business CityMed Investments, Harrogate, which identifies and develops sites for medical centres which it will lease and hold as an investment portfolio.

Good Skin Days has invested 450,000 in laser skincare technology and it will offer treatments including laser hair and tattoo removal, laser skin resurfacing, mole and birthmark removal, botox and facial fillers.

Mr Jones, a director, said: "We felt there was room for another non-invasive laser skincare business based on our experience and the Guiseley site has proved to be an ideal first base for this venture."

David McIntyre, Yorkshire Bank North Yorkshire FSC business partner, said: "John Gill and Paul Jones are hugely experienced in their field both from the property development point of view and in providing laser skin care treatments.

"We are sure that they will make a success of this new business and look forward to helping them grow and develop another national enterprise."

Mr Gill and Mr Jones were respectively executive chairman and marketing director at sk:n, a non-invasive laser surgery business which counted London's Harley Street among its 18 sites.

The business treated some 15,000 clients a month and carried out 180,000 procedures a year before being sold – in 2006 – to the venture capitalists, Graphite Capital, for an undisclosed sum.

After the deal, Mr Gill and Mr Jones completed a three-year non-competition clause.

CityMed Investments was set up in 2007 and now holds several sites throughout Britain.
