What was your first job?

A costume character at Alton Towers – Henry Hound on a good day!

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

I would have loved to be a pilot in the RAF.

What was your worst mistake?

Initially underestimating the effects of the current recession.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

A game of golf with the lads followed by some time with the family then finishing off in the Ranmoor Inn in Sheffield.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

He’s a true legend, is always up for a laugh and would be full of great stories.

What was your best subject at school?

Geography and PE.

What are your hobbies?

Golf – I would play every day if I could.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Other than make sure my family were taken care of, a lot of travelling to see the world’s great sporting events such as the Ashes in Australia, the Masters at Augusta, the football World Cup and the Monaco Grand Prix.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

An Ozwald Boateng suit that I wore when I got married.

What’s your favourite time of day?

Beer o’clock.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

Without a doubt it’s the people and their friendliness, honesty and outlook on life. I came to university in Sheffield 20 years ago and never left – so much of that is down to the friends I’ve made.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

He made the most of his once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
