On The Spot With Alistair Myers

What was your first job?

I started at The Beauchief Hotel in Sheffield on a multi-skill apprenticeship.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

I have no idea!

What was your worst mistake?

I was made responsible for ordering stock at a hotel during the Christmas period years ago... let’s just say they probably still have enough bitter lemon now!

What’s you ideal day away from the office?

Going out to eat and drink in a great pub or restaurant.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

Michel Roux. It would be great to get his personal opinion on the food and service of a place.

What was your best subject at school?

I shocked myself by getting two As in English at GCSE, it certainly wasn’t my favourite subject! I enjoyed art and graphics.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy watching boxing and doing boxing training for fitness.

What would you do if you won the Lottery?

The first thing I would do would be to take a break and fly to the hotel in Mauritius where we got married and stay a month.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

I love the feeling of getting home and putting on some comfy lounge clothes and putting my feet up.

What’s your favourite time of day?

Coffee time! About mid morning after the day ahead is organised I like to sit down for a few minutes with a nice cappuccino.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

The Yorkshire pudding!

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Luckily enough his job was also his hobby!
