Dave Rose is a director of Goole-based health and safety specialist MNA Consulting (UK).

What was your first job?

I used to sweep the drill hall at my father’s workplace in Goole after school.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

Coaching rugby union – I’ve always been passionate about the sport and have been involved with Goole RUFC for many years. I’m a committee member.

What was your worst mistake?

Joining a business as a director without carrying out due diligence first.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

Dog walking and watching Goole Rugby Club, followed by the odd beer or two.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with.

Muhammad Ali or Nelson Mandela. Both if I could.

What was your best subject at school?

English and technical drawing.

What are your hobbies?

Dog walking, cycling (enthusiastic amateur) and watching rugby union at all levels.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

The usual family things, but I’d also move house and support my business.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

My wife bought me a Barbour International jacket for Christmas and I love it. Without doubt, it’s the best item of clothing I’ve ever had and I wear it practically every day. It’s so useful.

What’s your favourite time of day?

It could be any part of it, depending on the circumstances I find myself in, but you can’t beat a peaceful dog walk on the riverbank or a ride on my racing bike at the end of the working day to blow the cobwebs away and unwind.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

Everything – it’s a great place to do business.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Phew! That took a long time coming.
