On the Spot with Dave Sewards

What was your first job?

I left school at 16 and took a job as a trainee panel-beater at Grandstand Motors in Beeston, Leeds. They had the contract to re-spray the 40ft wagons for Fox's Biscuits. I had the glamorous job of rubbing down the whole sides of those things with sandpaper. Played merry hell with my nails.

If you weren't in your present position, what would you be doing?

A short, fat, slow but tenacious middleweight boxer coming to the end of his less-than-illustrious career. Or an accountant. Or both.

What was your worst mistake?

Can I give a top 10? I appear to have the ability not to make the same one twice, but my worst was printing 30m leaflets for a client with the wrong telephone number on. Easily done.

Describe your ideal day away from the office?

Wake up in Las Vegas surrounded by the winnings from the night before. Round of golf with the lads. Fly to Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup horse racing meeting followed by a performance of Swan Lake in LA. Back to Vegas to catch Springsteen play a surprise gig with only 100 people in the audience. Late supper with Megan Fox and back to the poker tables. Other than, that it's not something I've really thought about.

Victoria Beckham – she wouldn't nick my chips.

What was your best subject at school?

Sport. I can't really remember anything else.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

See ideal day above.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

What is the best thing about Yorkshire?

The people. I've lost count of the number of people who comment on how open, friendly and straightforward we are.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Well, he had a bash.
