On the spot with Emily Coates

Emily Coates is an IT and technical consultant at Sheffield-based recruitment and retention specialist Benchmark Recruit.

What was your first job?

I was a care assistant in an old people’s home.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

At university studying medicine. This was the intial plan and I got a place at medical school but needed all As at A-level and got all Bs. No regrets though.

What was your worst mistake?

The day I posted a letter into the bin was an embarrassing mistake.

What’s you ideal day away from the office?

To be in Lindos, in Rhodes, which is where I like to go in the summer.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

My gorgeous fiancé, Themis. He is the best and I wouldn’t want to have dinner with anyone else.

What was your best subject at school?

Art. I was always very creative and loved painting, sculpture and drawing. I went on an art trip to Florence and Venice with school, which was amazing.

What are your hobbies?

I like to keep healthy and go to the gym when I can for a class or a swim. I also enjoy planning holidays, and at the moment am planning for my wedding for late summer 2012, so there are lots to keep busy with.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

I’d live abroad and have my own luxury yacht and live off property investments.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

One of my Lipsy dresses – I love to dress and glam up.

What’s your favourite time of day?

Evening – with a nice meal and glass of red wine.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

Yorkshire puddings.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Never be afraid to do something and miss out on something.
