What was your first job?

My first full-time job was at the age of 18 for Lloyds Bank as a management development trainee. Prior to that I ran various small businesses.

If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

Work as a consultant in a tr-oubleshooting role, or in product design and strategy for Apple.

What was your worst mistake?

When I was working at the Lloyds Bank head office, I was asked to quality check some supposedly live data. I rang a largish branch to ask the manager to confirm its closure date to find that no-one had told them yet they were closing.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Doing an extreme, adrenaline packed activity. In July this year, for example, I did a skydive with the Red Devils and some of the former English rugby team for ‘Help for Heroes’.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with?

Nelson Mandela.

What was your best subject at school?

Business studies/economics.

What are your hobbies?

Spending time with family and friends entertaining, collecting wine, and when time allows, gym/swimming.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Set up a bar/restaurant in Cyprus/Malta for my son to run with my wife and join them ASAP on retirement.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Have a gatekeeper, and learn to speed read.

What is your favourite time of the day?

Early morning, and after dinner.

What is the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

The friendliness and can do attitude of people in Leeds, and the views.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Hopefully, to be known as an approachable, friendly, down-to-earth person, who works and plays hard.
