On the Spot with Jackie Hamilton

What was your first job?

Grattans Catalogue in Rotherham. It was great fun. Earning money for the first time and working with lots of people my age.

If you were not in your present job what would you like to do?

I would love to work in a dog rescue centre walking the dogs and helping to look after them. I love dogs; they don't answer back.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

A picnic in the countryside with my hubby. I also love Whitby. We always go to The Magpie for fish and chips and I take my mini sketch book so I can sit and draw for an hour.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with.

The one person I would love to sit and have dinner with is my late grandad, Daniel Banks. Each time I had a conversation with him, I learnt something new about him.

What was your best subject at school?

History. My junior school was Station Road in Conisborough, which is next door to Conisbrough Castle. We did lots of lessons in the Castle grounds, so an English, geography or science lesson always turned into history.

What are your hobbies?

Walking my dog, reading and swimming.

What is your favourite garment?

My Harley Davidson leather biking jacket. My husband bought it for me when he bought his bike and the plan was I would go touring with him. This never happened as he sold his bike when he realised he didn't have time to ride it.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

I would share it among family and friends. It would be great to organise and pay for a cruise and invite everyone along.

What is the best thing about doing business in Yorkshire?

Yorkshire people will always give you a chance.

What is your favourite time of day and why?

It's 6am. That is the time I walk my dog, whether it's rain snow or hail. It's so peaceful.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Jackie always saw the funny side.

Jackie Hamilton is sales director of Purple Vouchers, based at Robin Hood Airport, in Doncaster.
