On the Spot with Joe Nions

What was your first job?

In a little local salon near where I grew up.

If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

I work at many of the top fashion shows and I love seeing all the amazing designers so I would imagine something in the fashion world. Or even maybe a chef as I love cooking for friends and family.

What was your worst career mistake?

I'd like to think I haven't had any because even if something seemed like a mistake at the time, I am happy where I am now. I think we all learn from our mistakes which make us a better person in the long run.

It would have to be a spa day. I love being on the other side of pampering.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with.

Simon Cowell so I could ask him if I can sort his hair out.

What was your best subject at school?

Believe it or not, PE. I might be small but I am very competitive.

What are your hobbies?

My job is my hobby. I think if you can turn something you love into a career then you are on a winner.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

After having an amazing holiday and saving the world, I would help my family and friends to have a life without having to worry about money.

As a busy hairdresser, it is always important to look good at work so I always choose my clothes and get them out the night before I go to work. Like that, you get some extra time in bed.

What is your favourite time of day, and why?

I love evenings and having a hot soak in the bath with candles around.

What is your favourite garment?

Shoes. It is all about the shoes.

What is the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

My mother is from the Lakes so I've always enjoyed the countryside, and in Yorkshire you never have to go far from a city centre to feel like you are in the countryside.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

We are not around for a long time so live life to the max. It would be: "I'm here for a good time, not a long time."
