What was your first job?

Administrative trainee at Norweb electricity in Manchester – that shows my age.

If you weren’t in your present position, what would you be doing?

In my dreams – flying a fighter jet in the RAF; in reality, probably a travel writer.

What was your worst mistake?

Agreeing to run a management development course for a company when it was fairly obvious that this wasn’t what was needed to resolve the issues they had, and the attendees really didn’t want to be there.

Describe your ideal day away from the office.

Having a picnic on top of a snow-covered mountain and then skiing down.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with?

Johnny Depp

What was your best subject at school?

History – loved it and that helped me to do well.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Learn to fly a helicopter, buy a chalet in Les Gets in France and tour California.

What’s your top time-saving tip?

Don’t put things off . You waste so much time avoiding things that it’s much quicker to just get them done.

What is your favourite time of day and why?

To some extent it depends on what I’m doing, but I have to admit that I am not an early bird.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My running shoes.

What is the best thing about Yorkshire?

The mix of geography – fantastic countryside, vibrant cities and beautiful coastline.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

It’s a really difficult question to answer, but I would hope that I would be remembered as someone who was always fun to be around.
