What was your first job?

I sold cameras in Jessops on New Oxford Street, and loved talking photography all day.

If you were not in your present job what would you like to do?

I'd be a snowboard instructor, or conduct guided tours of Paris by Segway.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Walking up a big hill, or sliding down one.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with?

It would have to be the CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs. We almost declared a company-wide holiday the day we got our iPads.

What was your worst mistake?

Not becoming a specialist in our field earlier.

What was your best subject at school?

Technical subjects: physics, maths, computing.

What are your hobbies?

Skateboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, wakeboarding. I enjoy hill walking.

What is your favourite garment?

My FiveFingers toe-shoes, the feel and freedom of going barefoot without the risk.

What political, legal, economic or sporting event would you most like to see in your lifetime?

A fair tax system.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Give a little, live a lot.

What is the best thing about being in business in Yorkshire?

The people, but I'd have to say that being a Yorkshireman.

What is your favourite time of day?

I love the twilight in summer, the vaguely magical feeling as night slowly dawns.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Hey ho. An unassuming allusion to rock 'n' roll friends and a literary hero, all now sadly passed.
