What was your first job?

Paperboy, then working for a growers that specialised in salad cress.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

I always wanted to be a fast jet pilot but then I got a job in computing and it felt natural so I stuck with it.

What was your worst mistake?

Too hard to say as I have made a number. I know I have never made them twice.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

Sea fishing on the Isle of Skye on a sunny day – I need more than a day for that, though.

Who would you like to have dinner with and why?

James Cracknell, for his sporting achievements and recovery from his recent brain injury.

What was your best subject at school?

Science and geography.

What are your hobbies?

Computing, running, mountain biking, sea fishing, hill walking, and performance cars.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Probably invest a large proportion in different technology businesses to be able to buy my own free time to start other projects.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Delegate.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My running shoes, for their ability to carry my body miles and miles. They don’t complain and they don’t need fuel.

What is your favourite time of day?

6am going to the gym on a sunny morning and warm summer evenings.
