What was your first job?
My first job was at a local newspaper working in distribution. I then worked in a brewery – my early career was very varied but I’ve always believed in working hard.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

Hide AdI would have loved to be a professional cricketer. Yorkshire has some great cricket stars who I really admire.
What was your worst mistake?
Buying a two-seater sports car and having a baby shortly afterwards.
What’s your ideal day away from the office?
While I spend my days in the connected world of technology, I like to relax in the peaceful surroundings of the Lake District.
Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?
Sport is a big passion of mine so I’d choose Chelsea manager José Mourinho.
What was your best subject at school?
Might not be a popular choice but I loved maths.
What are your hobbies?

What would you do if you won the Lottery?
I would carry on doing what I’m doing today. I’m a firm believer that you should love what you do – that’s the key to a successful career.
What’s your favourite time of day?
I love how peaceful early mornings are.
What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?
The great people and their approach to life. Yorkshire has many successful business- people. I really admire Peter Wilkinson, a Yorkshire-born businessman behind a number of internet successes – Freeserve, Planet Online and Sports Internet.
What would you like your epitaph to be?
The key to success is to love what you do.
