What was your first job?

I began working at the age of 12. As well as a paper round, I had a Saturday job at a garden centre working on the potting machine for a whopping £4.66 per day.

If not in your present job, what would you like to do?

A farmer because I love the outdoors, but I’m hopeless with plants and animals which could be a slight disadvantage.

What was your worst mistake?

Spending too much time and money trying to be a developer. You do need to make a few mistakes, the trick is to quickly learn from them.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Going to Filey or Sandsend with my wife, our two children and our cocker spaniel, Sid.

Name one person you would most like to have dinner with?

Lord Sugar.

What was your best subject at school?

English.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

I’d go straight to the Aston Martin dealership, then hire Richard Branson’s Necker Island and charter a plane to take all my friends and family for a holiday.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Get organised and plan your day in advance. I am an avid list writer – it’s a great feeling to tick everything off.

What is your favourite time of day and why?

First thing in the morning as I feel alert and full of ideas, but I also like the moment just before I go to sleep knowing that I have done my best that day.

What is your favourite garment?

My shoes.

What’s the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

The people, who are so friendly, and the countryside.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

A loving father and a successful nice guy.
