Aged 12 I worked on the mini-dipper at the Fair in Pensarn, North Wales where I grew up.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

Maybe a wildly successful global DJ, except I was pretty garbage at it if I’m honest.

What was your worst mistake?

The ski apartment in Bulgaria was not my best idea.

What’s you ideal day away from the office?

Get me into the mountains. My spiritual home is Snowdonia.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

Richard Branson. He’s a superb entrepreneur who comes across so relaxed and chilled out despite the high pressure.

What was your best subject at school?

Sport, particularly athletics.

What are your hobbies?

Mountaineering, skiing and Formula 1. I’ve been to Silverstone a few times, Hungary and Austria.

What would you do if you won the Lottery?

Got it planned! Formula 1 do a worldwide ticket to follow the team for the whole year.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

My Arc’teryx down jacket.

What’s your favourite time of day?

Definitely a morning person.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?

The people of course.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

He gave it a damn good try.
