On the Spot With Spencer Cassidy

Spencer Cassidy is managing director of Harrogate-based Clean Energy (Yorkshire).

What was your first job?

When I was 13, I started working as a window cleaner.

If you weren’t in your present job, what would you be doing?

Restoring historic properties. Over the years I’ve worked on a few restoration projects and would love to be involved in a few more.

What was your worst mistake?

Not revising for my A-levels. Had I knuckled down to some serious studying then I might now be working in the oil exploration industry. However, that said, my distraction eventually became my wife and we have been together for 22 years.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Finally going on a hot air ball-oon ride over the Dales that I was given as a present a few years ago.

Name the one person you would like to have dinner with and why.

Jamie Oliver’s wife – that way he would be free to do the cooking!

What was your best subject at school?

Physics.

What are your hobbies?

Photography, reading and spending time with my family.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

I’d be like Montgomery Brewster in the film, Brewster’s Millions, and go one long spending spree!

What is your top time-saving tip?

In one word, delegate!

What is your favourite time of day and why?

9.15am. It’s the time I have my first cuppa. And it has to be a steaming mug of Yorkshire Tea!

What is the best thing about being in Yorkshire?

I live and work in Harrogate. Do I need to say anymore?

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Here lies Spencer Cassidy, who passed away suddenly after taking up bungee jumping aged 105!
