Giving up running in my early teens (and discovering the pleasures of beer instead) when I was running times that were competitive for my age.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?

Get up early for a 20-mile run in the Peak District, followed by beer and chips at my local pub with my wife. Then off to Vale Park to see a victory for Port Vale, and then back to the pub and out for a curry with friends.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

Mo Farah. I’d want to pick his brains about his training regime/diet/running tips.

What was your best subject at school?

Probably German.

What are your hobbies?

I spend most of my free time running around the hills in the Peak District.

What would you like to do if you won the Lotto?

What is the best thing about Yorkshire?

The fact it has everything: amazing countryside coupled with great business centres, plus people with strong, determined and proud character.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

A determined, hard-working and ambitious lawyer who was above all a loyal friend and good company to be with. (I hope!)
