On the Spot with Wayne Paul Stead

What was your first job?

I was an underground miner at Armthorpe Colliery, aged 16, following in the footsteps of generations of my family.

If you were not in your present job what would you like to do?

Selling cars, nice cars. They are my passion, much to my wife's annoyance but to spend all day around nice cars would be good.

What would be your ideal day away from the office?

Relaxing visiting our holiday home on the Kent coast with the family and Tilly our little Westie who loves the beach.

Name the one person you would most like to have dinner with, and why?

Theo Paphitis from Dragons' Den because he seems very down to earth and he tells it like it is.

What was your best subject at school?

Geography, I always had an interest in people and places and seemed to excel in this subject.

What are your hobbies?

My weekends are taken up standing out in the cold shouting on my son's football team.

What is your favourite garment?

Shoes and suits. I believe in dressing smartly for work and take a pride in what I wear.

What political, legal, economic or sporting event would you most like to see happen in your lifetime, and why?

I would like to see a vast improvement in the NHS system, improved wages for the nurses who are on the front line and to see the Government put some pride back into Britain.

What would you do if you won the Lotto?

Make a lot of people happy. Family and friends who have been there and played a big part in our lives would be definitely be on the list.

What is your top time-saving tip?

Prepare. My favourite words of wisdom are "If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail".

What is your favourite time of day and why?

Late afternoon when everything is calming down and you can sit back and reflect on the day you've had.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Here lies Wayne, he always treated others how he expected to be treated and it worked.
