From stalls on the market...

Bonmarche was founded by Parkash Singh Chima in 1982 who started the business on market stalls. His sons, Gurchait and Gurnaik Chima, built up the fashion empire.

The business expanded to a portfolio of over 200 stores before being acquired in 2002 by Peacocks.

Last month, Bonmarché said it planned to target more affluent shoppers with the relaunch of the Ann Harvey brand, which caters for larger sizes.

The Wakefield-based business said prices will extend to £80 for dresses and the collection will include 56 items in bigger sizes ranging from 16 to 32.

The relaunch followed consultations with focus groups.
