Strategy the keystone of success for family business

FAMILY-Owned business Keycare, which specialises in the recovery and replacement of lost or stolen keys, has said it achieved sales of £1m in the first four months of its financial year.

Baildon-based Keycare, whose customers include Marks & Spencer and Suffolk Constabulary, said it has achieved 14 per cent profit on a turnover of over £1m from November 2011 to February 2012.

The company, which was founded in 1977, achieved an annual turnover of £2.45m for the year to October 31, 2011. The firm said its success is attributable to “a strategy of planned growth and investment which has sparked a raft of new contracts”.

David Ross, managing director, said: “Everyone at Keycare has played a role in contributing to this milestone. The £1m turnover we posted from November 2011 to February 2012 exceeded our projected targets by over £278,000.

“Our net profit of £146,000 year to date is likewise unprecedented and is already in excess of our entire pre-tax profit for last year.

“We anticipate continuing acceleration in our growth during this year and beyond, with a number of schemes for blue-chip brand names about to launch which will catapult our sales well past £3m for this year alone.”

Keycare employs 23 staff and is currently recruiting for additional roles in customer service, sales and risk management.
