Subscription record for WANdisco

SOFTWARE company WANdisco reported record subscriptions in the first three months of 2013, up 96 per cent on last year.

The Sheffield-based company said subscription bookings have reached £2m.

New customers include General Atomics, FutureWei, Societe Generale and Maxim.

WANdisco also reported significant sales growth from existing customers including Home Depot, Nokia, John Deere and McAfee.

The annualised renewal rate by booking value was 134 per cent.

Renewals came from Sony, McGraw Hill, Raytheon, Vanguard, Borg Gais and Blue Shield.

During the first three months of 2013 the company announced the release of new products for the fast growing Hadoop Big Data market. Hadoop is open source Big Data technology which serves as the backbone for many of the world’s largest and most important databases used by companies such as Yahoo, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon and eBay.

According to the analyst firm Wikibon, the market for solutions able to solve Big Data issues is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 58 per cent between 2012 and 2017.

This means a leap from £3.3bn to over £33bn.

WANdisco will report results for the year to December 31 on April 25.

The company’s software is used by multi-national companies such as HP, Intel, Barclays, McAfee, Honda and Asda’s parent company Wal-Mart.

The company recently bought AltoStor, a Silicon Valley-based company working in the fast-expanding Big Data market.

WANdisco said the purchase will speed up its ability to develop products for the Big Data market.
