Summit to give insight into business in Dales

more than 70 businesses are now signed up for the Business In The Dales conference.

The conference, at the Middleham Key Centre, will run from 11am to 4pm on March 21 and aims to inspire and inform local businesspeople with a mix of workshops, panel debates, exhibitor stands and keynote speakers.

Some of the businesses that have registered so far include Yorkshire Business Aid, Swaledale Festival, Moorside Design and Science City York. Delegates will gain insight into what the future holds for the Dales, details of the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s plan for the future and how it will support the local economy.

Richmondshire Business Forum has arranged and will be hosting the conference. It is the cooperative name of the four business associations in Swaledale and Wensleydale and other partners offering business support

Chair of the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Barry Dodd, has been confirmed as the main keynote speaker.

He developed the GSM Group from a two-person operation in Thirsk to a major multinational company with four manufacturing plants across the UK.

“The event will give more local businesspeople a chance to listen to experts, have their say and network with other companies,” said Colin Bailey, chair of Richmondshire Business Forum.

He added: “The conference is the launch of a new dynamic approach to business growth in the district.” He invited businesses to “celebrate Richmondshire as a place to do business”.

The conference will also incorporate the launch of a new website, www.inthedales.co.uk, which provides a local platform to assist businesses in finding the information they need to run and grow their organisations, get their services online and get in touch with the wider business community.
