Supermarket Booths to launch next delivery service for elderly customers

Supermarket chain Booths is launching a next day delivery service for elderly and isolated customers to allow them to access groceries during the coronavirus crisis.

The phone order service will be prioritised for those in need of key groceries and have no other option or family or support to help with shopping.

However the family-owned supermarket, which has a branch in Ilkley, has respectfully requested that people only use this service if you absolutely need to and said its capacity was very limited.

Deliveries will commence from Thursday the 26th of March and will be available within a 3-mile radius of all Booths stores apart from Media City in Manchester. Deliveries will operate 5 days a week from Monday-Friday and will follow the next day. It is not possible to give timed delivery slots.

Orders can be placed by ringing 0800 2218086 Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4pm and payment will be taken over the phone. There will be no charge made for delivery.

There is a range of 14 essential grocery bundles, covering the basics from milk, bread, eggs, pasta, tea fruit and vegetables and meat that can be delivered.

"Teams will do their best to accommodate dietary requirements and the service will not supply alcohol," a spokesperson said.

Booths teams will be practicing social distancing on delivery, and will leave your delivery at the door, ring or knock and walk away to a safe distance to ensure their safety and yours.

A spokesperson added: “These are unprecedented times and Booths wanted to help assist the most vulnerable members of our communities that are affected by the virus. We have limited capacity for deliveries, so we are asking customers to reserve this delivery service for only those in great need.”
