Surgeon welcomed on board at Surgical Innovations

KEYHOLE surgery specialist Surgical Innovations has appointed surgeon Henrik Steinbrecher to its clinical advisory board.

The Leeds-based company said Mr Steinbrecher, who starts his role with immediate effect, is the first consultant paediatric urologist to join the UK clinical advisory board (CAB) at SI.

Mr Steinbrecher previously worked as a consultant in paediatric urology specialising in paediatric surgery and minimally invasive surgery at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust. He is currently a consultant there.

Graham Bowland, chief executive officer for Surgical Innovations, said: “We are delighted to welcome Henrik to the CAB, his expertise in paediatric surgery will help SI focus in this specialist area.”

Elsewhere, the Building Societies Association (BSA) has announced the appointment of Robin Fieth as its new chief executive. He will take up the role on December 1, succeeding the current director-general, Adrian Coles. Mr Fieth is currently the executive director, members and operations at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He joined the ICAEW in 2002 as director of finance.

During his career, he has held a number of other senior positions in the corporate sector, including finance director and company secretary at GiroVend Cashless Systems.

Meanwhile, professional services firm PwC has appointed a new Northern head of inheritance tax who will be based at the firm’s Leeds office. Alan Garratt will join the region’s private client tax team as well as leading the inheritance tax specialism on a national basis. He has more than 18 years’ experience as a private client specialist.

FRP Advisory, the restructuring and recovery firm, has hired Phil Pierce as a partner. Mr Pierce, who joins from Baker Tilly, is leading a new Leeds office for FRP Advisory.

Law firm hlw Keeble Hawson is boosting its Leeds team with an internal promotion and the appointment of a new partner. Joining from Ward Hadaway is property litigation specialist Philip O’Loughlin, whilst commercial litigator Rachel Crookes is promoted from associate to partner.
