Talks over freeport tenants

Leeds Building Society reveal-ed it is talking to potential new tenants in order to fill empty shops at Hornsea Freeport shopping village.

The mutual bought the retail outlet, which went into administration last year, for 7m after lending 16m to the former owners Hornsea Estates and Hornsea Estates (No.2) in 2007.

It plans to sell the retail outlet, currently 70 per cent occupied, once it has increased in value.

Chief executive Ian Ward said: "It was poorly managed and we think we can get more tenants in there. We have had a lot of interest from some big names so once we get one or two it is a double win because more people will want to follow."
