Target brings profits cheer for staff

YORKSHIRE IT distributor Target Components said it has enjoyed its most successful year to date after increasing turnover by 35 per cent and trebling pre-tax profits.

The Castleford-based firm, which employs 42 staff, reported a turnover of 17.5m for the year to March 31, up from 13m the previous year, while pre-tax profits trebled to 450,000, up from 145,000.

Managing director Paul Cubbage said: "We share 10 per cent of pre-tax profits equally between all employees, so it's good news for our staff.

"We retain all of the profits within the business, giving us greater scope to invest in development and to keep improving, so it's also good news for our customers."

Target, which was set up in 1998, sells products including hardware, software, and audio-visual technology storage devices, to manufacturers.

Mr Cubbage added: "I believe the last couple of years have seen a resurgence of independent retailers with local expertise and the ability to offer a more personal customer service approach.

"We couldn't have achieved the level of growth without the strength of our customers."
