Tech hub will help to support next wave of firms

Digital businesses will play a key role in the development of the region's economy, a manager at Leeds Beckett University has predicted as it celebrated the successful expansion of its latest business incubator programme.

The Leeds Digital Hub, an tech office and co-working space run in partnership between Leeds Beckett and The Yorkshire Post, is extending its offering across an entire floor of paper’s headquarters in Leeds.

Tenants, working across a diverse range of sectors including tourism, education and event planning, are working within the hub where they will have access to university expertise and the audience of The Yorkshire Post.

At a launch event Katie Rigarlsford, Enterprise and Innovation Manager at the university, hailed the progress of the firm’s situated in the unit and said that she expected more high tech firms to follow suit.

“This will be a successful partnership to help these young tech firms get the support they need to build and thrive,” she said.

The launch event was attended by occupants of the Leeds Digital Hub, as well as representatives from Leeds Beckett, The Yorkshire Post and its parent company Johnston Press.

Delivered in partnership with The Yorkshire Post, the Leeds Digital Hub is part of a network of Leeds Beckett University Business Centres which have been operating for more than 15 years.

More than 200 businesses across the region are currently located in the university’s private, shared and co-working spaces, which to date have supported over 800 businesses to accelerate their growth.
