Technology has helped Callcredit to compete

CREDIT reference and marketing firm Callcredit Information Group has technology at its heart.

The Leeds-based company, originally founded by Skipton Building Society, has expanded rapidly in recent years to compete with rivals Experian and Equifax.

Its credit solutions division – called Callcredit – provides credit referencing services for business and consumers. Its marketing solutions arm supplies a range of services including marketing data, international market analysis and network planning.

Its most recent development is a marketing list specifically for the renewable energy market. Callcredit Marketing Solutions (CMS) used advanced mapping to analyse the orientation of every garden in the UK, identifying more than 8.5 million households with south-facing gardens.

It believes this could be of use to the UK’s 4,000 businesses in the solar panel market, including leading utility providers.

CMS managing director Chris Savage said: “With the increase in demand for renewable energy, particularly by those looking to reduce their own carbon footprint and utility bills by producing their own electricity through solar power, we can now deliver these unique insights to marketers, enabling them to plan bespoke marketing campaigns.”

Private equity firm Vitruvian Partners bought Callcredit in 2009.
