Technology helping to keep track of your pizza

AN upmarket pizza company has launched an online tracking service to enable customers to check the progress of their delivery.

Leeds-based boxpizza, set up by James Sturdy and Henry Vigar five years ago, believes it is only the second pizza firm in the world to use the technology, after Domino's in the US.

The high-end delivery service counts Halifax Bank of Scotland, Barclays and Asda House among its clients.

The company said customers can monitor their delivery from their desk, tracking it from kitchen to boardroom.

Last year, the firm had a turnover of 250,000 and they hope to raise that to 300,000 in 2010.

Mr Sturdy said: "The new tracking system now adds another level of support for our clients who need to plan their food deliveries, particularly those who order in for corporate lunches or event catering."

"This is something I've been wanting to do for a while and I was amazed this facility wasn't available anywhere else in the UK for pizza delivery.

"It made sense to us as another way we can offer our customers added value, and it's being really well received."

The firm, based on Burley Road, recently launched packages catering for the work lunch or boardroom banquet.

The tracking service is available to anyone within the boxpizza delivery area.
