Time running out to enter Yorkshire Property Awards

The awards, which this year mark their 20th anniversary, celebrate the best commercial property deals and businesses in the region, as well as helping to raise money for children’s charity Variety.

The awards, regarded as the premier property awards in the region, have honoured some of Yorkshire’s most iconic buildings over the years, as well as the people who helped create them.

Last year, 1,000 people from across the sector attended the event, and tickets for this year’s event have already sold out.

The Yorkshire Post is to be the official media partner of the event which takes place at Harrogate’s Rudding Park on Thursday, May 4.

Entries are invited in the following categories: Best Architect of the Year, Best Small Agency Practice (20 or less partners), Best Large Agency Practice (21 or more partners), Property Deal of the Year, Best Innovation Project and the Game Changer Awards.

The latter awards look at the projects and deals which have a material effect on the surrounding environment and market.

Over the years, the awards have honoured a host of iconic schemes.

Last year’s winners were Leeds’s luxury Victoria Gate shopping centre which has finally brought a John Lewis to the city centre, The Chocolate Works which is renovating the old Terry’s chocolate factory in York and Kirkstall Forge, a massive urban regeneration scheme in Leeds which has created a new railway station, as well as grade A office space and eventually hundreds of homes.

Elsewhere, Gent Visik was named as Best Small Agency Practice, Lambert Smith Hampton as Best Large Agency Practice, DLA Design as Best Architect and the Thorpe Park development in Leeds named Property Deal of the Year.

Meanwhile, Richard Lewis of Town Centre Securities was handed the honour of Property Personality.

The awards benefit Variety, The Children’s Charity with last year’s event having generated some £175,000 towards the work it does to provide to provide Sunshine coaches and mobility equipment for disabled youngsters.
