Allison Dutoit of Gehl Architects is headline speaker at an event in Leeds hosted by The Yorkshire Post Business Club with Igloo Regeneration.

She said: “As cities evolve, we feel the focus needs to be on a great quality of city life for people. When planned from this perspective, new developments and infrastructure become opportunities to create new civic life within a local fabric.”

Ms Dutoit will be joined by Rachael Unsworth, an urban geographer at Leeds University, and Chris Brown, founder and chief executive of Igloo, the real estate developer and investment manager.

The three speakers will give their insight into what it takes to make a city succeed when new infrastructure and large scale plans are introduced.

Leeds council is hoping to transform the southern area of the city centre known as the South Bank into an “urban eco-settlement” featuring residential, commercial and public space for 10,000 people.

The event is next Tuesday.
