Top M&S role for Jones

The daughter of Ilkley businessman Sir David Jones has been hired by Marc Bolland to become brand director for Marks & Spencer’s general merchandise unit.

Ali Jones joins from Arcadia, Sir Philip Green’s retail empire. The former pupil of Leeds Girls High School previously held marketing roles at Debenhams, Freemans and Next.

A spokeswoman for M&S said: “We’re delighted that Alison is joining us in the new role of brand director, general merchandise.

“She will be responsible for developing and coordinating our brand and marketing strategy, building on the priorities we identified in our three-year plan.”
