Top pianists to descend on music fair

IT'S an idea that could have been inspired by Henry E. Steinway himself.

Music equipment retailer Gear4music.com – perhaps taking a leaf out of the book of the legendary instrument-maker and expert marketer – is to hold a digital piano fair at its headquarters in York later this month. The free sessions, on August 27 and 28, will feature experts from Casio, Korg, Roland and Yamaha as well as demonstrations, offers and the Yorkshire company's own instruments. The firm said many of the musicians due to attend at York Business Park have played internationally.

Jonathan Meager, marketing manager at Gear4music, said he hoped the event would bring York folk together.

"Not only will people be able to hear some top pianists in action, they'll also have the opportunity to find out about digital pianos from those who know them the best, as well as making some generous savings on the day."

Eight demonstrations are due to take place on each day of the event, with experts on hand from 10am until 5pm on August 27 and between 10am and 4pm the following day. For more information go to www. gear4music.com/piano-fair.html
