Town Hall Tavern to hold court as gastro pub

once it was a haunt for lawyers preparing their cases for court appearances nearby, while across the bar the accused would enjoy what could be their last moments of freedom.

But now the historic Town Hall Tavern in Leeds is being relaunched as a gastro pub by owner Timothy Taylor.

Marc Craddock, operations manager at the Keighley-based brewer, said: “Town Hall Tavern is in the heart of the business district in Leeds and we’re hoping to bring it inline with the high expectations of what business people need and want, while retaining the venue’s heritage and traditional charm.”

The company has hired PR firm Chocolate to promote the relaunch. Jo Swann, managing director, said: “We’re very excited to be working alongside Timothy Taylor and with the team at Town Hall Tavern to support the relaunch of the venue into a gastro pub.

“The building holds many memories for the people of Leeds and we will work with the team to ensure it retains its heritage and charm, but becomes associated with fine food and an extensive drinks menu that the team will deliver.”

The pub’s new look will be unveiled during two business lunches on May 18 and 19 and a VIP launch night on the second evening. It will be open to the public from May 20.

Businesses from the nearby Park Square area will be invited to sample a selection of dishes from the new food and drink menus.
