T&T's Canada merger

Construction consultant Turner & Townsend is to merge its Canadian operations with cm2r, a Toronto based construction consulting firm which operates throughout Canada and North America.

The merger follows the rapid expansion of T&T in Canada, where it

provides project management services to motor manufacturer Nissan, and cost management services to a wide range of clients, particularly in the mining sector, including Barrick Gold and Pebble Limited Partnership.

In the UK, T&T is best known as project manager for The Shard, in London Bridge – which will become the tallest building in Western Europe standing at 1,016ft (310m) when it opens in two years' time.

The merged company will be called Turner & Townsend cm2r and have offices in Toronto and Calgary with plans to expand into other locations in due course.

As a combined force the directors believe the company will be well placed to grow significantly.

T&T chairman Tim Wray said: "This merger is great news for Turner & Townsend as it further strengthens our capabilities in the Canadian market, where there is currently a huge demand for the kind of experience Turner & Townsend has globally in infrastructure, mining, energy and PPP projects.

"cm2r is a great fit, and we look forward to working together as we further grow our presence in Canada and North America."
