Turner moves into historic city centre building

PROFESSIONAL services firm Turner and Townsend is to take up a 10-year lease in one of the most historic buildings in Sheffield city centre.

It will move into 1 East Parade, next to Sheffield Cathedral, after a major refurbishment led by property consultancy Knight Frank.

The building, with its distinctive Victorian turreted and castellated red-brick frontage, has undergone major internal works to turn it into top-specification offices.

Turner and Townsend, which is moving from its current offices at St James House, on nearby Vicar Lane, will occupy 5,000 sq ft of the building’s available 10,000 sq ft.

The project to renovate and market the property has been undertaken by building consultancy and agency teams from the Sheffield office of Knight Frank to create two floors of Grade A offices, marketed on behalf of Square Metre Properties Limited.

Peter Whiteley, partner at Knight Frank, said: “Sheffield is going through an exciting time at the moment, and as other cities reach their maximum headline rents, properties like 1 East Parade coming to market provide a really interesting prospect for businesses wanting to relocate into prime city centre space, but with a measurable economic benefit.”

Chris Sargent of Turner and Townsend, an independent professional services company specialising in programme, project and cost management with offices nationwide, said: “Securing prime office space in the centre of Sheffield, particularly in such a unique building is hugely important for our business.”
