Two food firms close with loss of 90 jobs
TWO food companies have gone into administration with the loss of 90 jobs.
Administrators PKF said Country Chef Ltd, based in Scunthorpe, employed 80 people, and Denby Dale Pie Ltd a further 11. The two companies are linked by common shareholders.
Country Chef processes potatoes while Denby Dale Pie manufactures frozen pies. The businesses’ assets are being offered for sale with the hope of restarting the companies.

Hide AdA partner at PKF, Jon Newell, said: “In the short time since our appointment there have been numerous expressions of interest, almost all from existing operators in the food industry. We are hopeful that this interest will result in acceptable offers which allow the businessees to re-employ at least some of the staff who have, regrettably, had to be made redundant.”
