UK gains from R&D tax breaks

fifty per cent of manufacturers say the UK is at least as good as competitor nations when it comes to Research and Development (R&D) tax incentives and over one in 10 (12 per cent) say the UK is a world leader in this field, according to manufacturers’ organisation EEF.

Seven in 10 manufacturers (69 per cent) say the UK “could do better” when it comes to Government support for commercialising new technology.

One aspect that does get manufacturers’ seal of approval is the Government’s tax treatment of R&D. Over six in 10 manufacturers (62 per cent) have taken up the R&D tax credit.
