UKTI chief to speak at Yorkshire Post Business Club

THE MAN responsible for selling British business overseas and attracting more foreign investment into the UK will be making his first visit to Yorkshire in his new role.

Dominic Jermey, chief executive of UK Trade and Investment, will be giving a briefing at The Yorkshire Post Business Club next week.

Mr Jermey, a distinguished former diplomat and investment banker, is charged with helping Britain to meet the twin challenges of globalisation and economic uncertainty. He was appointed in the summer.

He will be talking about how UKTI can help boost exports among Yorkshire companies and increase foreign direct investment in the region. Both are at comparatively low levels.

Mr Jermey started his career in corporate finance with British investment bank J Henry Schroder Wagg, working in both London and Madrid, and joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1993.

He was most recently British Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and was previously managing director of UKTI’s sectors group for three years, helping 11,000 of the UK’s most innovative companies to do business around the world.

The Yorkshire Post is hosting the January 15 event in partnership with Chamber International, a subsidiary of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber that helps businesses in West and North Yorkshire with international trade.

Past Business Club speakers include Goldman Sachs bankers, Government ministers and Facebook directors.
