US healthcare group moves into the area

HEALTHCARE research firm RTI International has chosen Yorkshire as the base for its second UK office.

The US-based company has opened an office at Velocity House in Sheffield to join its Manchester base as part of plans to grow its RTI Health Solutions business.

RTI Health Solutions provides research and consulting services to help global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies develop and commercialise their products.

Steve Beard, global head of health economics Europe at RTI, said: "The Yorkshire region is home to health outcomes expertise and significant postgraduate programmes based at both University of York and University of Sheffield. Our office in Sheffield will allow for more regular face-to-face meetings and interactions with both these groups."

RTI Health Solutions has more than 200 employees in the US and Europe, including experts in health economics, market access, epidemiology, biometrics, drug safety, and pre-clinical and clinical development.

Dr Allen Mangel, executive vice president of RTI Health Solutions, added: "We strategically placed this office to allow optimal collaboration with some of the world's leading expert outcome scientists."
