VW franchise invests £1m in van site

Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire) has transformed the old Dixon Citroen and Nissan sites at Birstall Smithies into a lifestyle vehicle showroom – for camper vans and caravelles – and an assured used van centre.

The (West Yorkshire) Active Life and Van Craft sites opened this week after six months of building work.

The scheme created six jobs initially but the firm said it expects to add another six over the next year.

Andrew Caygill, director at Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire), said: “The active life site is the first in the country to offer customers a standalone centre for the new generation of Volkswagen campervans.

“This is a pilot scheme for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and I’m sure it’ll be a huge success.”

Van Craft will be a centre for assured used Volkswagen vans.

“The new building will have over 30 vehicles indoors,” Mr Caygill added.
