Weather Lottery signs up the Owls in gaming deal

FUNDRAISING company The Weather Lottery has signed up another major football club, Sheffield Wednesday, just a day after signing up Derby County FC.

The Doncaster-based company has signed a multi-year contract to become online gaming partner for both clubs under its new brand name FC Betz.com.

Under the contract, The Weather Lottery will provide a full package of online gaming products to the clubs and their supporters.

Negotiations are continuing with several other clubs and the group said it hopes to make further announcements with other leading football teams.

The group had already signed an online gaming deal with Coventry City.

In addition the company will run the football clubs' lotteries under the new themed FC Lotto brand, which it has created specially for the football market.

The contracts will start from the beginning of the football season with The Weather Lottery providing in-stadia and online gaming to the fan base.

The Weather Lottery, which raises funds for non-profit organisations such as sports clubs, charities, schools and universities, began its search for new, diverse clients earlier this year. The group believes that this expansion will create additional revenues.

Chairman Lord Razzall said: "Sheffield Wednesday has a strong history and a strong presence locally and nationally and is we hope likely to be moving up through the leagues in the near future.

"Once again we are delighted to become the gaming and lottery partner and look forward to a successful and profitable relationship."
