Which moves into mortgage market

Consumer group Which? has announced plans to launch a mortgage advice service for its members.

The group, which received approval from the Financial Services Authority this week, said it had decided on the move following feedback from its members saying they were unsure where they could get impartial advice on home loans.

Which? Mortgage Advisers, as the service will be known, plans to set itself apart from the competition by looking at every mortgage available on the market, not just those that can be arranged through a mortgage broker. The group's mortgage advisers will also be paid a salary, and will not receive any commission.

The free service, which will be available to people who subscribe to Which? magazines and their friends and family, will be launched later this month.
