It pays to have a great video, according to research carried out by MWP, a company that helps companies use video to achieve returns.

To support their case, MWP analysed 7,196 projects on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website.

Crowdfunding is a largely internet-based means of raising money from the mass market for a project or business.

According to MWP, projects on Kickstarter that have a video are 85 per cent more likely to achieve their funding goal.

It’s a particularly smart move to include video if your firm is involved in food, product design, photography or plans to create a brand of children’s books, according to MWP.

The study also found that most successful Kickstarter projects are still based in the US.

California accounted for 19 per cent of all successful projects.
