Wind firm joins ITM project

CLEAN fuel firm ITM Power said a global wind power firm has joined its hydrogen vehicle refuelling project.

The Sheffield-based company said Danish firm Vestas Wind Systems AS has signed up to its Hydrogen On Site Trials (HOST).

Along with organisations including DHL and Sheffield City Council, Vestas will try out ITM's transportable high-pressure refuelling unit (HFuel) and a hydrogen-fuelled van.

Vestas is the world leader in wind technology with a 12.5 per cent market share in 2009.

ITM chief executive Graham Cooley said: "(Vestas's) assessment of our energy storage – clean fuel technology, using wind energy, for decarbonising return to base logistics fleet vehicles – will provide ITM Power with incredibly useful data."
